Today we reviewed our Zoom In Zoom Out ideas. We also TOOK NOTES ON ORGANIZATION (page 137-138 of our notebook). IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you could print/copy the notes from today. All students need to finish any missing work (plant walk, native plant research, turtle lab work) or there is detention to complete the work tomorrow afternoon. Time's up! Today we took the time to catch up. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY Counting Turtles graph and conclusion was due today. Be sure to finish up to turn in on Monday (THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS TO ANSWER). I will assign detentions for any missing work starting next week! We are moving on to a new unit!  Today we completed the data collection for the Counting Turtles lab examining how mark and recapture estimates population sizes. Tonight you finish graphs, analysis, and conclusion. If you need help with the lab just REVIEW THE ANALYSIS/CONCLUSION WORK. Some of us estimated different numbers of turtles in our ponds even though we used the same technique. It's important to remember that mark and recapture is just one estimation method (and it sure is better than diving in to count every single turtle). Some methods are better than others depending on the size and location of populations. If you need more explanation on sampling methods WATCH THIS. For those who MISSED TODAY'S LAB: review all this week's work and complete what you are missing (Powerschool is up to date) but don't worry about this lab. Tomorrow is a catch up day for all of us before we explore the organization of HUMAN BODIES. Today we took a quick SWYK on the tree of life and then explored the factors affecting populations. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you have a SWYK to make up and maybe still need to finish your PLANT WALK and maybe even finish your NATIVE PLANT PROJECT. Tomorrow a lab and Friday a chance to catch up (or dissect!).  Today we wrapped up math SBAC testing and the other half of students had science class! Some of you still need to finish your PLANT WALK; some of you didn't finish your Native Plant research (check Google Classroom for the instructions).
