Today we summarized evolution on one hand. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY be sure to finish your Darwin vocab.

Today we finished our vocabulary work. Next week we shall put this theory to the test! Need support to finish? Flocabulary has info on FOSSILS and ADAPTATIONS and EVOLUTION (login hunt2446 password ocean3155) You can also watch the videos below to get a great review of all the terms as well as analysis (how the terms connect to Darwin's work). IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you have your vocab slides in Google Classroom to do.
Today continued our vocabulary work on SPECIES and FOSSILS. We also discussed ADAPTATIONS and VARIATIONS. All of these terms are important for NATURAL SELECTION which is everything Darwin's Theory of Evolution explores. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you will find your own vocabulary work in Google Classroom. Today we "met" Charles Darwin and discussed his book: On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection. We also started vocab work (book definition, our definition, analysis, and illustration): SPECIES, FOSSILS, ADAPTATION, VARIATION, NATURAL SELECTION, and EVOLUTION. We will continue this task for the rest of the week. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you can easily jump in tomorrow and still be okay (or email me for the work today)! Today we discussed all the remaining words from the word wall. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you don't have any new work to make up, however I will close out all missing work from you at the end of the day so get 'er done!
Should we really be bringing back extinct critters via DNA? I'd say no, however the advances in genetic engineering are pretty amazing! IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY check Google Classroom for the Genetics SWYK and bonus boosters. Maybe you just want to review and explore cells and DNA? CHECK OUT THIS COOL INTERACTIVE! Genetics is for all of us AND there's a cool interactive called PIGEONETICS on the Learn Genetics site. Take time to explore the interactive as you review for the final unit SWYK. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY be sure all genetics work is finished before you tackle the SWYK (it is intended to Show What You Know so be sure you know things FIRST).
We wrapped up our Peggy and Bruce offspring today. Interesting how a few are nearly identical twins! It's important to note that even though identical twins share identical DNA, their expression of genes may differ due to environmental influences. This is called epigenetics. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY be sure to finish any Google Classroom work from the week. You can also explore more about epigenetics on the Learn Genetics site (such cool interactives, too). Today we continued our Peggy and Bruce offspring project. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you will find a replacement task in Google Classroom. You can also spend some time exploring PBS videos about The Gene. Email me with Q's!
Today we started our offspring project. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you don't have anything for today to make up. Just focus on any missing work from last week. I will give you an alternative tomorrow IF you are still absent for class. |
