Today we did math SBAC testing periods 5 and 6 with regular classes 1-4 and period 7. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY for testing you will need to make up what you missed (no worries about today's lab... just some fun with beak adapations). I did a planner check today AND collected notebooks for a midterm checkup. Tomorrow we shall explore how pollinators and flowers coevolve!

Today we did math SBAC testing periods 1-3 and then had regular classes the rest of the day. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY for testing you will do the activity tomorrow's class! Periods 1-4 need to wrap up the Nature at Work lab. Periods 5 and 6 turned them in today. Tomorrow we will have regular classes periods 1-4 and then SBAC in the afternoon after lunch. I did a planner check today AND collected notebooks for a midterm checkup. As you work on your conclusion to the Nature at Work Lab you may need more practice witnessing natural selection due to variation? TRY THIS PICKING OFF THE PEPPER MOTH SIMULATION to discover the advantages of blending in to survive. Maybe the concept is easy to understand and explain. Maybe you could use the practice. Try it!!! IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you need to finish your lab... USE THIS DATA for whatever day you missed and wrap up both analysis. You will write a conclusion to summarize the results. Use loose-leaf (or google classroom) and setup a supported CEAL (remember C is the question; E is actual data... use the percentages; A is already done with the questions you answered on the lab sheet AND vocabulary for natural selection and variation so use them; L is just a nice restatement of the answer to the question and boom you are done!) Today is DNA day! On this date in 2003, the Human Genome project finished the first draft of human DNA. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you need to wrap up the Nature at Work lab.
Today we started a lab to explore how variation in coat color affects natural selection. Tomorrow we will wrap up the analysis of today's data and collect more data about another environment. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you can WATCH THIS VIDEO ABOUT ROCK POCKET MICE to get an overview of what our lab is about. I will get you the lab sheet and some data to use from today's results as you join tomorrow for the forest experiment.
Today we explored adaptations. We added SYMBIOSIS to our glossary and we took a SWYK on the vocabulary of Darwin's Theory. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you need to make up the SWYK and add SYMBIOSIS to your glossary. Tomorrow we will start a lab that explores the effect of variation on natural selection.
Today we wrapped up and reviewed the vocabulary terms: species, fossils, adaptations, evolution, natural selection, and variation. We added details to our notes from the 5 fingers Ted-ed below (page 113 of our notebook if you are doing the work yourself). Tomorrow we SWYK to check understanding of these terms. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY wrap up your work from this past week!
Today we wrapped up vocabulary: species, fossils, adaptations, evolution, natural selection, and variation. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you need to watch the videos below to to learn about Alfred Russel Wallace (AND Nicolas Steno). So important to recognize the contributions of many help us to draw scientific conclusions. Add these scientists along with Charles Darwin to your GOSATOT and wrap up vocabulary work. Do your own searching for information (yesterday's video is great to review all terms)!
Today we continued with our vocabulary work related to Darwin's theory: species, fossils, adaptations, evolution, natural selection, and variation. Remember to include the book definition, YOUR definition, analysis of how the term is important to Darwin's work, AND illustrate the term! Tomorrow we will wrap up vocab work and add GOSATOT info on Darwin and others!!! IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY work on the terms... and feel better! |
