Today Igor discussed the connection of carbon dioxide in our ecosystems... and we had koolaid. Turtle work?

Today we wrapped up our Counting Turtles lab and discussed factors the increase/decrease/limit populations. If you still need some advice for your CEAL you may choose TO REVIEW THIS PAGE. If you only need to define the terms LIMITING FACTORS and CARRYING CAPACITY you may watch the video below (and you can add to your glossary on Tuesday in class). Monday you will explore the connections of CO2 in ecosystems. Today we completed the data collection for the Counting Turtles lab examining how mark and recapture estimates population sizes. Tonight we will finish analysis and write our conclusion. If you need help with the lab just CLICK ON THIS HOT LINK AND REFRESH YOUR MEMORY!!! Tomorrow we will discuss what factors cause populations to increase or decrease as well as answer any questions you may still have about the lab. Finish the vocabulary from earlier this week yet? We will add more to the glossary tomorrow! Yikes!!!
Today we had some vocabulary work time AND we setup our notebook for tomorrow's lab activity. All vocab terms should be defined in your own glossary by now! Finish tonight if you still have vocabulary left to do. Do you need a bit more help understanding the overall ideas of ecology? CLICK AND WATCH THIS VIDEO!
IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you need to come in the morning during Study Hall to get set for the lab (or copy the lab from a friend) so you can start your experiment with the rest of us. If not, then you will need to get the page setup before you can collect/analyze data tomorrow. Vocab work should be done as well. Today we wrapped up our notes on Living Things and Their Environment. Tonight you get to add all the terms to your glossaries (biotic factors, abiotic factors, community, ecosystem, ecology, habitat, organism, photosynthesis, population, and species). Tomorrow we will explore populations with a lab. IF YOU WERE ABSENT you can PRINT THESE NOTES and attach to pages 40-42 of your notebook. Do vocabulary too! This video does a nice job explaining the overall connections of living things and their environment!
Today we began our study of Living Things and Their Environment. We are learning how to put the THIEVES pre-reading strategy into a note-taking format. IF YOU WERE GONE TODAY you can PRINT THESE NOTES and tape into pages 38/39 of your notebook and then catch up to us tomorrow (we are still taking notes from the textbook and need to wrap up more notes tomorrow). A new unit is underway!!! Yay!!!
But it's okay because our Wednesday IS our Friday this week!!! Yahoo!!! Great work today with breakfast, creating a thank you sign, and helping tuck in the orchard for winter. Some of you had a productive work day (some of you still have work to do). I will only accept work if it's dropped of in the red basket BEFORE HomeBase on Monday... otherwise the zero will stand. Sigh. Halfway through the trimester now... whew!
Today we explored more about zooming in and zooming out from cells. We setup some notes (if absent today you will need to see me for the work you missed) and turned in our notebooks for a midterm notebook check. Tomorrow is our team breakfast (bring food!) and then a day for cleaning up/helping out/getting work done. Next week we continue with data analysis and drawing conclusions from data. Cool. Today we explored Tick Bait (TB's Universe on the ipad) and answered some questions about why she is named Tick Bait, listed 3-5 things smaller than a cell, and summarized what you learned in the app. If you wish to go for the "4" on today's assignment: Explore THIS LINK for more information on the scale of the universe and then add a number 4 to your Tick Bait questions (page 35 in your notebook)... #4- Compare and contrast the two explorations (Tick Bait vs. Scale of the Universe 2)... use a Venn diagram or narrative paragraph to answer this new homework question #4. If you were absent today: You will simply explore THIS LINK and write a list of 3-5 things smaller than a cell and THEN summarize (5-8 sentences) what you have learned about exploring the Scale of the Universe 2. Write your answers in your notebook on page 35. |
