Today we reviewed how DNA has instructions that RNA copies and ribosomes read to assemble proteins from amino acids. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you need to take the SWYK (tomorrow study hall or lunch?). We will act like a cell tomorrow as we wrap up cells and move into heredity.

Today we decoded instructions to build critters just like RNA decodes DNA to make proteins!!! IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you missed some fun! Be ready for tomorrow's SWYK! Everyone should review!!! Today we discussed the code of DNA and RNA. We also discussed mutations. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you should print or copy THESE NOTES (page 84 in notebook would be delightful). Tomorrow we shall act as RNA and decode instructions to build an organism! Reminder of a detention after school, too!  Today we finished up our DNA model and discovered the coded language for protein synthesis. We will continue with this topic on Monday and then do some decoding and building work ourselves on Tuesday! IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY print or copy THESE NOTES and watch the video below (add a venn diagram on the bottom of the notes page comparing DNA and RNA... attach to notebook page 83). Any missing work from this last unit must be completed by Monday or you will have detention Tuesday, January 30th! Today we built a DNA model. Today we began our understanding of DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid).

COPY THE NOTES from today too for p. 82 of your notebook. Tomorrow we build a construction paper model of DNA using our personalized initials... fun stuff! Friday we will start to explore the code of DNA and what happens when mistakes occur (yep... even DNA has mistakes!). One of my favorite websites is Learn Genetics... try the DNA game from today! (you need adobe flash) Today we took a SWYK on cell processes. We also reviewed information about cancer. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY be sure to check plan a Study Hall, lunch, or after school time to make up the SWYK. Tomorrow we dive into DNA and understanding inheritance and variation of traits!
