Epigenetics: what is it? READ THIS or watch THIS VIDEO. In the discussion of nature vs. nurture we can add one more factor that influences the outcome of our genetic expression of traits. This adds another level to what Mendel described with his dominant and recessive pea traits! Very interesting indeed! Gives more credo to you are what you eat (and drink and smoke and do)... your environment influences. The future of genetics is always changing as we learn more and more about our DNA. Tomorrow you will give me insight into what you have learned about genetics with our Big SWYK (see below)! Next week we research genetic disorders.
1. Which of the following scientists contributed most to the study of genetics? Explain what they contributed and why their contribution is BEST (contrast with another scientist's discovery in your analysis).
James Watson and Francis Crick
2. How has the decoding of the human genome changed our understanding of life and living things? What do you think may change in the future from our understanding of genetics? Use specific vocabulary from our unit in your analysis.

Most science pictures I post are found from assorted Facebook science pages... too numerous to cite specifically and downloaded for "just the right time"... I am sorry for the poor citation example I am setting.
In addition the archives are primarily from my days as a ONLY a life science teacher ... 2020 has changed all that!
