Safety is important not only in the lab but in our community. Please keep yourselves safe today kids.
Today we made sure we knew all the tools of life science AND discussed how to use them safely in the lab. Tonight we need to have our SAFETY CONTRACT signed and we need to review lab equipment for Friday's SWYK. Play this MEMORY GAME or review this POWERPOINT OF EQUIPMENT. No notes for the SWYK! Today we learned lab equipment names and uses. We SWYK on Friday... know your tools! I would encourage you to review THIS POWERPOINT, challenge yourself with THIS POWERPOINT, and play a web game to review: MEMORY GAME (forceps not tweezers though!!!). IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you could print this list for your notebook! Tomorrow we discuss lab safety.
Today we explored the methods scientists use for answering questions. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you can print the notes you missed: THE WHEEL (attach in notebook on page 8) and SCIENTIFIC PROBLEM SOLVING (attach in notebook on page 9). Tomorrow we shall explore the tools of life science and then a safety discussion Wednesday. Your first "truly counts for a grade" SWYK will be Friday... Today we wrapped up notebook work and we set our clock partners. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY get your clock partners from me when you return. We also listed some skills and tools that scientists use. Next week we will focus on the skills and tools of science as well as safety. Enjoy the weekend! Today we began the setup of our science notebook... tomorrow we finish clock partners for seating and begin with the skills and tools of science. Good work today following procedures! Open House tonight!!!
Today we shared about ourselves. Some classes have a few more bags to share tomorrow. All classes will be putting together our science notebooks tomorrow. Be sure to have your 3 subject spiral ready to roll!!!
Today we learned a bit about Ms. Hunt's characteristics (other than already knowing she's a bit CRAZY) and we need to identify 5 characteristics about ourselves to share tomorrow. You were given a bag to place 5 items that describe YOU. Remember you might need a larger bag and you need to keep safety and school rules in mind (hunters: no bullets!). We also took our very first SWYK (Show What You Know) today... most of you don't know a whole lot about life science yet... GOOD!!! We have a great year of learning ahead of us. Be sure to go shopping for the 3 subject spiral so we can do notebook setup on Thursday!
