IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY be sure to finish your Meaningful Months calendar... Enjoy the weekend!

Today we wrapped up work with our meaningful months calendars. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY finish (with color) your calendar and turn it in when you return. Tomorrow we will act like a cell and then Monday we are back exploring cell processes. We will discover how materials move into and out of cells (diffusion and osmosis) and then we will learn how cells make more cells (mitosis). We are only a few weeks away from midterm (and the halfway mark of this school year). I will once again collect notebooks for a grade. Is your Table of Contents up to date? How about your Glossary? Is your notebook neat, complete, and quite a treat? I sure hope so!!! Today we did NOT act like a cell (we will on Friday) but we DID explore the varieties of calendars that exist. We also created our own Meaningful Months calendar. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY check in with me during Home Base (or ask any other Team Paideia kiddo what to do). We wrap up coloring tomorrow. Today we had an opportunity to use the energy stored in an almond to boil water! Of course we know the energy stored in the almond came from photosynthesis and energy release is done in our mitochondria. It was fun to burn almonds in class though... yes? IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you missed out (but watch the video below). Some of you are missing energy notes. Notebook p. 65 should have ENERGY ROLES IN ECOSYSTEMS; p. 66 will have ENERGY FLOW notes; p. 68 is all about PHOTOSYNTHESIS; p. 70 has CELLULAR RESPIRATION notes; p. 71 is a Venn diagram comparing/contrasting these two energy processes (you need to create this yourself... use the who, what, when, where, why, and how to help); and finally p. 72 is all about FERMENTATION. Some of you will print and tape the notes, some just copy them in your own script! Tomorrow we will act like a cell once again and practice being organelles! |
