Today was our last Monday of the school year. We did our final planner check AND reviewed a bit about our characteristics and vocabulary from the entire school year. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY be sure you've checked PowerSchool and Google Classroom for any missing work. FINISH as we have our final SWYK tomorrow!

Today we challenged our knowledge of ecology to unlock the EcoParks Escape Challenge. We also finished grading the Counting Turtles labs. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you don't have anything to make up for the escape room HOWEVER you can sure work on your Nova Lab bonus task since June 8th is coming up soon (if I still need a turtles lab score I'll grab it Monday as we review for our final SWYK of the year).
Today we added John Muir as an ecological Giant of Science. We also explored who IS the GOAT of GOSATOT (period 2 ran the KMS Classic instead). IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you can add this new Giant to your GOSATOT page. Remember to finish your Counting Turtles lab if you didn't get a score yesterday. Tomorrow is the final grade day.
Today we explored the balance of ecosystems. Biotic, abiotic, and human interactions impact the balance in ecosystems; both good ways and bad. We also explored how wolves have changed rivers (seriously cool). IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you will find an Edpuzzle task in Google Classroom! I will grade your turtle lab when you return. Today we FINALLY had the best sub EVER to review the carbon cycle. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY be sure to ask your classmates what you missed but there is nothing for you to make up for today's class. I will be back in class tomorrow to grade the Counting Turtles lab. Make sure you have all data, analysis, and conclusion CEAL work done for grading!
Today we finished our Counting Turtles lab. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY be sure to finish your analysis and conclusion work. Did you miss class both Thursday AND Friday? You are excused from this lab activity (but watch the TED Ed below)! Today we explored the technique of mark and recapture to estimate populations. We will finish the lab conclusion tomorrow in class. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you can get the data from your classmates tomorrow and wrap up your conclusion in class. (If you won't be here tomorrow be sure you finish the analysis and conclusion work before you return to school)
Today we started our Counting Turtles lab examining how the mark and recapture technique estimates population sizes. It's important to remember that mark and recapture is just one population estimation method (and it sure is better than diving in to count every single turtle). IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you can join in the data collection in class tomorrow. In the meantime you may watch this video: Today we checked our understanding of the biomes with another escape room. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you will find your alternative task in Google Classroom. Today was a make up/catch up/finish up day for our biome balls (remember Friday didn't quite go as planned?). IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you will find your work in Google Classroom.
