Today we explored the technique of mark and recapture to estimate populations. We will finish the lab conclusion tomorrow in class. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you can get the data from your classmates tomorrow and wrap up your conclusion in class. (If you won't be here tomorrow be sure you finish the analysis and conclusion work before you return to school)

Today we started our Counting Turtles lab examining how the mark and recapture technique estimates population sizes. It's important to remember that mark and recapture is just one population estimation method (and it sure is better than diving in to count every single turtle). IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you can join in the data collection in class tomorrow. In the meantime you may watch this video: Today we checked our understanding of the biomes with another escape room. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you will find your alternative task in Google Classroom. Today was a make up/catch up/finish up day for our biome balls (remember Friday didn't quite go as planned?). IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you will find your work in Google Classroom.  Some of us assembled our biome balls today. Some groups still need to finish (Periods 2, 3, and 4 had a detour to the normal plan today! 🔥🚒). IF YOU MISSED CLASS THIS WEEK (or the last 2 days) check Google Classroom for your absence work. If you just missed class today your group will assemble the biome ball when you return. Today we worked on our individual biome ball panels. Tomorrow we assemble the finished product! IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY make sure you have your part of the project ready tomorrow! (if you've missed this entire week's project make sure you have your BIOME task finished in Google Classroom)  Today we made sure we know all about our biome AND divided the biome ball tasks. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY make sure you have your research done. You will find out your part of the biome ball in class tomorrow (Not going to be here tomorrow? Email me for the details) Today we continued our research using both print sources AND Chromebooks! IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY spend a bit of time on your biome research (check Google Classroom for more specifics on your topic).  Today we started our new project: Biomes. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you can start your research (email me for YOUR biome) or wait until you are back to school tomorrow. Do you still need to finish your Superpower Science paper? FINISH TONIGHT!!! Today we spent our science class watching the documentary Mutation: Science of Survival. Our Superpower Science papers are also due by the end of the day today! IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY make sure you have your work finished up on time (or spend the weekend getting it done). Next week we will zoom out and learn about BIOMES. |
