Today we used an almond to boil water. WHAT?!??! Yes. The energy stored inside the almond from photosynthesis was released. It was enough to bring a test tube of water to boiling (or darn close)! IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you missed the fun BUT watch the video below to see how energy is stored in food. More with energy processes tomorrow.

Today we discussed the process of photosynthesis creating food from light, carbon dioxide, and water AND how cellular respiration releases energy from food for cells to use. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you are welcome to print/copy THESE NOTES for page 52 in your notebook. We will continue to explore both of these energy processes this week. Today we discussed the details of photosynthesis. We also set new clocks and got new hall passes for T2. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you will get your clock and passes when you return. You are welcome to copy/print THESE NOTES on page 51 of your science notebook or catch up in tomorrow's class. Be sure you've finished Friday's work. We made sure our energy pyramids were finished and turned in and THEN we started our energy energy energy work. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you will find today's Edpuzzle task in Google Classroom (you will also see some bonus work however don't worry about that YET). Next week we learn the processes of photosynthesis and respiration.
Today was a work day to wrap up our energy pyramids project. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you can grab a sheet of blank printer paper, cut it into a square, and follow the instructions OR wait until you return to school. Easy to finish during lunch, PRIDE, study hall, or after school. REMEMBER TO BRING EARBUDS TO CLASS TOMORROW! Today we reviewed energy transfer within food chains and webs. We also began a really cool project which will turn into an actual pyramid!!! IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you can try these instructions but totally okay to wait until you return to school! Tomorrow we complete the pyramids! Reminder the Notebook+ Check is due by 8 pm today! |
