![]() Today was a delightful day continuing our learning of Photosynthesis. Monday we shall continue with our energy processes... respiration is next! Take advantage of this weekend to wrap up your December current event (yep, last weekend to get it done)... due by the 20th for an "on time arrival". Thursday, December 19th is the next current event party! Join us! Some of you STILL have NOVEMBER work to do! Feel free to do the End of section Q's for photosynthesis (but not required this time around)... always good for learning though! Have a great weekend! ![]() Today we reviewed the parts of a food chain and added connections to energy. If you missed school today feel free to copy THIS into your notebook page 59 (or print and paste it in!). Tomorrow THIEVes work continues with Photosynthesis... remember there will be a sub for me but the plans are all set for you to get work done! Finish your summary question explaining "you are what you eat" if you are still not finished!!!! You could also look for a current event (you can use any article within the past year... doesn't just have to be written in December... could even be fromlast December!) ![]() This is funny if you remember today's Cell Defense game (hydrophobia anyone?)... Tonight is another chance to get your summary done from last week... Review the post HERE if needed. Pretty cool how we can "undo" the eggs simply by switching the surrounding liquid (anytime there is a concentration gradient you will see the water move from "high" to "low"). Maybe you were gone today and need to write a conclusion and take the quiz? I will help you with your missing work tomorrow. Remember I have your notebooks tonight... don't panic! Spoiler Alert... YES WE WILL!!! In fact most eggs already are "undone"...
Tonight is a good night to wrap up any missing work as well as review the key terms of movement into/out of cells (selectively permeable, diffusion, osmosis, passive transport, active transport). Finding current events for November (if you are late) and December (if you still haven't found one) is also a good thing to do. Math sure has beauty (but most of the math in THIS VIDEO is very scientific!)
![]() Our eggs are doing their osmosis "thang" right now... already seeing loss of water where we would expect (which do YOU think?)... This weekend is the time to get all caught up if you have not completed work about Chemical Compounds in Cells. Need the summary question again? Read this... Monday we measure the mass of the eggs and explore how salty water may fit into the picture... HERE is a neat video about how organisms make shells using calcium (I don't recommend dumping vinegar to the ocean to dissolve them though!)... Very cool graphics showing the elements found in various places...
![]() Tonight we wrap up THIEVES work on Chemical Compounds in Cells p. 25-30. Finish the End of section questions on loose leaf paper using complete sentences AND write the summary to the following poem: "It's a very odd thing, as odd as can be, Whatever I eat, it turns into ME!" Explain the poem. Think about the molecules that make up cells and the molecules that we eat. Use your best CEAL writing with this summary (same page as questions... add paper if needed). Watch this Ted-Ed again? Questions and summary DUE THURSDAY! We will start discussion of HOW the organelles do their jobs starting with the cell membrane... diffusion and osmosis begins. We are indeed... hope your THIEV work is coming along... feel free to start the End of section questions p. 30!
