Cells are cool ... organelles are cool ... cell projects are cool ... FINISH THIS WEEKEND! IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you didn't have time to check out cells on the iPads. Oh well, finish your project anyway!

Today we explored the differences between bacterial cells and those of plants and animals. We added the terms PROKARYOTIC and EUKARYOTIC to our glossary and we once again worked on analogies for the cell organelles (remember cell parts and jobs at an analogy level gives a "4" for the CELL PROJECT). IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY ... watch the videos, add to your glossary, and work on your project! Today we watched Bill Nye the Science Guy and his episode on cells (Did you prefer Miss Frizzle in the dichotomy question today? Check out THIS PREZI OF CELLS VS. THE FRIZZ). We also reviewed cell parts and their jobs of the cell with a review game. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY be sure to work on your CELL PROJECT (due on Monday, November 20th!). More analogy work tomorrow AND diversity of cells. ![]() Today we continued our exploration of cell organelles and their functions. The cell is just like a factory with so many jobs to be done to keep organisms alive! We did some sorting and matching of parts and jobs. We also discussed some analogies for organelle functions. Work on those projects tonight! Due November 20th! Maybe you need more help in reviewing parts and jobs? TRY SOME OF THESE GAMES IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you should spend some time working on your PROJECT. Today we continued with our understanding of organelle jobs. We watched a cell organelles video and reviewed the expectations for our CELL PROJECT. Spend some time each night this week on the project! IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you should click the link for the CELL PROJECT and review expectations. Today we checked the chart of cell organelles AND colored a cell diagram. Next week we will review cell organelle jobs every day over and over and over!!! IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you need to spend some time next week getting caught up (I bet either a lunch or study hall would suffice). ORGANELLES!!! Today we began learning cell organelles. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you can print the WORKSHEET and explore the missing parts of the chart using internet resources... you can also wait until you are back in class tomorrow and check a book for weekend catching up. Next week we will skill and drill organelles! Today we had an overview of the cell organelles. Tomorrow we begin cell organelle work ... tonight we have parent/teacher conferences... please encourage your folks to come see us!!! IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY be ready for organelle work (some of you may have a SWYK from yesterday to make up). Today we took a SWYK on the characteristics of living things... we also cut out our characteristics cubes and explored how science is a puzzle. Sometimes we find new evidence and it still fits our ideas! Next up: cells. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you have a SWYK to do... see me at lunch or Thursday study hall!
Today we wrapped up characteristics work: cubes, vocabulary, and missing notes. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY watch the video below and work on vocab on your own! It is interesting to ponder the origins of life through experimentation. Tomorrow we explore life characteristics with experimentation as well as take a quick SWYK on the characteristics and needs of living things. Conferences Wednesday! |
