Today we practiced our skill in microscopy. We also viewed pond life. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you can check yesterday's post (same make up work). You also could check out this virtual pond dip page (cool critters like what we saw today). Tomorrow we will review scope parts and use, check our mold investigation, and learn some more microscope history.

![]() We used the microscopes today in class. Pretty cool tool. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY be sure to finish the virtual microscope lesson in Google Classroom. You can also play a few games to review microscope parts: Today we discussed the parts of a microscope. It is such a great tool to use when looking at the building blocks of life: CELLS! The next few class days will be exploration days using the scopes. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY look in Google Classroom for your virtual microscopes lesson. You can review the parts of the scope WITH THESE NOTES. Today we assessed what you know about life AND setup an investigation to check out the importance of water in growing bread mold. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY check Google Classroom for your QUICK SWYK. Use your THIEVES notes work to Show What You Know about life. A bit of glossary time would be good as well.
Today we worked on our Characteristics Cubes (see yesterday's post) AND revisited our brainstorm list from Monday. We definitely had some incorrect thinking about "What is Life?" but NOW we know better. Monday you will Show What You Know about the characteristics work with a quick SWYK. Then we will set up an investigation to explore the NEEDS of living things. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY be sure to finish any missing work from this week, watch the video below, AND add the needs of living things to your notes in your notebook page 13 or 14? Today we once again had the Chromebooks in the classroom to finish our Characteristics of Life work. We also started our Characteristics Cubes. Some people finished the cubes; some are working tonight; some will wait until the weekend. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY be sure to spend time finishing your Characteristics of Life choice board (Edpuzzle, GOSATOT, glossary terms, and TED Ed videos). You can grab a cube when you return to class. For those finishing the work at home: DO NOT CUT OUT THE CUBE OUTLINE.
No science today. Just fun. Spend time this evening on your Characteristics of Life Work (see Google Classroom)
Today we finished our CHARACTERISTICS OF LIFE THIEVES NOTES. We also started a new "What is Life?" choice board. IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY make sure you have the notes in your notebook (copy on pages 13-14) and get started on the new choice board work in Google Classroom. Wednesday is Fall Fun Day! We shall celebrate being 7th graders and have a day of play.
Today we discussed the THIEVES note taking strategy in science. I love how this style of notes allows you to steal information from the textbook in such an orderly way. We also started to steal information from the textbook about "What is Life?" IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY you can print (or copy) THESE THIEVES NOTES in your notebook page 13 OR just wait until tomorrow's class to get them done. We will continue with the notes from the textbook and then start another choice board learning more about "What is Life?" Today we wrapped up our fish investigation AND we explored our thoughts on what does it mean to be alive? IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY this is the last weekend to wrap up any of the work we've done so far. New unit starts Monday. PLEASE email me/comment in assignments if you need support! Have a wonderful fall weekend!!! |
