You are wrapping up your lab (I hope) and exploring all the simulators for Rock Pocket mice and Pepper Moths but also you can review the 5 fingers of evolution here: (all these resources are intended to support your analysis and conclusion of the lab) Remember to get adult eyes on that conclusion. A FULL CEAEAL should happen by this time of year with no errors in spelling and grammar (fix any squiggles google gives you).

Lots of good evidence to support the idea that variation in species will determine how well adapted to an environment they are. Hope all is well with your conclusion work. Give death rate data for evidence and use the analysis questions (EAEA right in the lab!). Remember those vocabulary slides of yours have some great resources to use as well!!! Hopefully your Hello Mr. Darwin vocabulary work is completed now (with 100% success on the Flocabulary quiz) and you've begun the Nature at Work lab. Here's some more support for that lab: This week we will explore more about Darwin and his theory of evolution by means of natural selection. We have Flocabulary work AND vocabulary slides to wrap up in our Hello Mr. Darwin task first though. After vocabulary work is complete you can begin your Nature at Work lab which answers the question "How does variation of color in a species affect natural selection?" There is a hypothesis to make, data to analyze, and a conclusion (a full well developed CEAL conclusion) to do. We also have a quick SWYK for the vocabulary on Wednesday. As always comment/email if you have any questions or need support for any of the new unit work. Okay it's wrap up time. Today is the last day I'll have genetics work open for you to complete (and that includes Midterm Time check in AND the final genetics SWYK). Next week we have a lab to do (and conclusion to write) which applies so much of what we've learned while distance learning!!! BTW ... my college son is officially done with his degree! I'm a proud momma! 🎓💙💛😸 Here's some Mr. Parr for you. I do hope you were able to gather your things from school this week (I sure loved getting to see some of your faces, too!!!). You will have another opportunity in June when we are officially finishing the school year. Don't stop doing your school learning yet ... we still have a month to go!!! Remember to check your Google Classroom stream for announcements and Classwork tab for the assignments to finish. Anytime I comment or return work to you without a score you are expected to make corrections and resubmit!!! Tomorrow is the last chance to wrap up old work (only new unit work will be collected from now on)!
Keep plugging away at your Hello Mr. Darwin task. I know you are likely annoyed with me to keep returning incorrect work back to you BUT I expect it to be done correctly. There is nothing wrong with EVOLVING your knowledge of the terms by adding layers of understanding (ooooh... that was good). Reminder that I will be shutting down all past work Friday (meaning if it's missing it's missing and it stays missing ... get things done). That includes ALL genetics work AND the midterm time check in. We will continue with Darwin next week so if you need to bump something to later ... bump the slides. Remember the genetics SWYK and the Midterm Time check in need to be finished before you start the new Hello Mr. Darwin work! Think about how I'd do this task in class ... I'd first play the Flocabulary song and then start on the vocabulary task. As you work on each slide for the vocabulary task there are videos and explorations to do. These are intended to replace a textbook but still give you support. Then I'd go back to Flocabulary and practice terms and the read and respond task and then take finally take the quiz. Be sure to use all the resources ... videos ... interactive exploration ... etc ... to help you learn all about this theory!!! And as always ASK ME FOR SUPPORT AS NEEDED! Today we kick off a new unit. You will notice that most Genetics work in Google Classroom has been renamed PAST UNIT WORK. The midterm time check in is still on the top of the list of Classwork to finish so get that done pronto with the parentals. IT'S TIME FOR US TO MEET MR. CHARLES DARWIN and understand his important theory. You have one large task to complete in google classroom this week (many steps to complete though in this one large task). Be sure to look at the Flocabulary vocab cards!!! You might get some ideas to use in your vocabulary task. As always feel free to ask me for support ... just comment in the document and you are set. A new unit starts next week. A new topic to explore (tho some of the vocabulary may seem familiar).
A new Giant of Science to learn about as well. FOR NOW ... FINISH YOUR GENETICS WORK!!! Scroll through announcements in Classroom and blog posts for this week (or scroll back to when the unit began and review all posts). Remember to finish all other work before you tackle the SWYK!!! |
