Today we began the animal kingdom with an understanding of the organization of animal bodies... feel free to PRINT THESE NOTES if you were absent... we put them in the notebook page 147... Tomorrow more animals. Tonight is the last night to wrap up any and all plants related work! Tomorrow we explore the Animal Kingdom (which is the kingdom WE belong to as well!) Today we had only periods 1 and 3 for science... tomorrow will be periods 5 and 6. I will need any missing native plant projects, notebooks, and plant walks by Wednesday... Feel free to bring work in for HomeBase tomorrow during study hall time! I will start assessing a late grade for the work on Wednesday... whew...
Today we took our SWYK on plants. IF you missed school today you will take your SWYK on Monday or Tuesday during science class. A few of you may be invited to spend a bit more time with your SWYK if I don't feel that it truly shows me what you know of plants... This weekend is a great catch up weekend if you do not have your plant walk done; your native plants project completely finished with citations; or even finish that dreaded GMO paper! Today we had the opportunity to wrap up the Native Plants Project. I will collect notebooks after the SWYK tomorrow. Be familiar with the following terms: Photosynthesis, Respiration, Vascular tissue, Non-vascular tissue, Gymnosperm, Angiosperm, Stamen, Pistil, Flower, Fruit, Seed, Spore, Pollination, Fertilization, Roots, Stems, Leaves and Plants. You will need to discuss more than just a definition... be ready to analyze their connections! Get out and finish your plant walk tonight! SBAC testing next Monday and Tuesday afternoons!
Today we reviewed the characteristics of plants. Friday is the SWYK. Be familiar with the following terms: Photosynthesis, Respiration, Vascular tissue, Non-vascular tissue, Gymnosperm, Angiosperm, Stamen, Pistil, Flower, Fruit, Seed, Spore, Pollination, Fertilization, Roots, Stems, Leaves and Plants. We also started our Native Plant Project. INSTRUCTIONS HERE (pages 142 and 143 of your notebook for the work). You can either draw a nice full page picture of your plant OR you can print one... be sure to cite your source! If you were absent you could choose any of the plants listed to research. We will have class tomorrow to work on this task, too. I shall collect your notebooks and grade the project on Friday after the SWYK. PLANT WALK tonight!!!
Yesterday and today we continued with Civil War presentations for Team Paideia therefore did not have an official science class HOWEVER I want you to take a walk... a plant walk. READ THIS for what to look for! A few of you actually need to PLUG IN and finish your GMO paper! :) I have graded all of Wilson's period 6 papers... I am now slowly working on period 5! Not loving the technology side of this project...
