Today we explored all the GOOD foods and additives to foods from algae, some BAD diseases caused by protists (giardiasis, malaria, amoebic dysentery), and the UGLY algal blooms and red tides. Read pages 84-86 in the text to understand more of the bad and ugly side of algal blooms. The video clip below shows a really good algae bloom of bioluminescent dinoflagellates. THIS was a neat video we watched in class.
One final question to write about on looseleaf: "IF all the algae suddenly disappeared from the earth's waters, what would happen to living things on earth? Explain using CEAL paragraph skills."
Have this CEAL paragraph completed by Monday (including track stars). Monday is also LAST day for graphs.
KMS Science Teacher
Most science pictures I post are found from assorted Facebook science pages... too numerous to cite specifically and downloaded for "just the right time"... I am sorry for the poor citation example I am setting.
In addition the archives are primarily from my days as a ONLY a life science teacher ... 2020 has changed all that!
