Today we checked our notes for the roles of fungi in the world and added Alexander Fleming to our Giants of Science for his discovery of penicillin. We then discussed all the important symbiotic relationships fungi have with others (some are good relationships like lichen and mycorrhizae; some are bad like athlete's foot and the parasitic Cordyceps). Track stars missed a good video today about these parasites: WATCH THIS. You also can watch the video below to discuss more of how fungi are very important to us! See below for SWYK.
SWYK paragraphs due Monday if not already done in class. Answer the following using a fully supported CEAL:
Of all the roles fungi serve in nature, which of these roles (which niche) would you say is the most important?
Use your CEAL paragraph skills to explain what role is most important, supporting evidence for this opinion, analysis of how this role is more important than another role (or two), and final linking statement to make this paragraph POP! Answer this SWYK question on loose leaf paper. IF your paragraph is not done when entering class Monday I expect you to stay at lunch (periods 1 & 3) OR after school (periods 4, 5, or 6) to finish!
KMS Science Teacher
Most science pictures I post are found from assorted Facebook science pages... too numerous to cite specifically and downloaded for "just the right time"... I am sorry for the poor citation example I am setting.
In addition the archives are primarily from my days as a ONLY a life science teacher ... 2020 has changed all that!
