Today we measured the stuf (and the cookies) for both Double Stuf and regular Oreo cookies. Tonight we need to do some analysis. IF you were absent today please plan to stay for PRIDE Wednesday afternoon (or come see me in the morning). Tonight you need to work on your analysis questions and CEAL conclusion. Analysis MUST be done when you get to class tomorrow... conclusions may not quite be right yet.

Today we set up our procedure to investigate if Double Stuf Oreos truly have double the stuf of regular Oreo cookies. Tomorrow we shall gather AND analyze the data, then write our conclusions. Some of you still need to wrap up last week's work... scroll back to Friday's post for reminders. Otherwise, enjoy the video below! Today we reviewed the week: observations on Monday, investigating Tootsie Pops on Tuesday, learning about variables AND questions (worksheet) on Wednesday, to more discussion of variables AND questions AND hypotheses AND procedures on Thursday (worksheet), to an application of the method for real today (Ted-ed on gecko observations... CLICK TO WATCH AGAIN). Next week is more investigation AND discussion of analysis AND conclusions AND theories AND designing your own investigation!!! Some questions can be answered with an experiment, some with research, and even others we just don't know answers. Watch -> Please finish any missing work this weekend for the best success in science!
Today we checked our understanding of variables and stating the question of an investigation. Tonight we have two more experiments to explore variables and questions with... but we ALSO hypotheses AND procedure. Tomorrow is a day to check your understanding, answer the questions you still have, finish whatever is NOT yet finished, and hopefully help cement your understanding of the steps of the wheel (the scientific method)... video below is great (you can skip to 4:47 if you don't feel like a history lesson). |
